Joe Scudder, of Roman Road, walks one mile around Snodland to raise money for friend with cerebral palsy

A toddler born with cerebral palsy took on a gruelling one mile walk around Snodland to raise funds for his friend who needs medical treatment.

Joe Scudder, three, took on the challenge on Monday and raised over £3,500 for his buddy Jamie Maynard, who is the same age.

Both boys have the condition but Jamie’s condition is much more limiting.

Later this year he will have surgery on his spine and Joe’s money will help fund some his rehab.

Joe’s walk took him on a one mile route, setting off from his home in Roman Road and ending at the community centre, in Paddlesworth Road.

Just one quick stop for a biscuit was needed and Jamie joined him for the final part of the walk, where they were cheered on by friends and family.

Liz Scudder, Joe’s mother, said: “I’m so proud and totally overwhelmed. Joe was really excited before it started and was so happy at the end.

“He was running on adrenalin but, bless him, he was absolutely exhausted after.”
