Discarded cigarette sparks barn fire in Paddock Wood

Firefighters were forced to dismantle a barn frame following a fire caused by a discarded cigarette.

Kent Fire and Rescue was called to the blaze in Paddock Wood yesterday afternoon.

Crews had to use a tractor to disassemble the barn's frame after extinguishing the blaze in Wagon Lane just before 3pm.

They had been called out to the property an hour earlier.

A spokesman said: " It is believed to have been caused accidentally by a poorly extinguished and discarded cigarette. There were no reported injuries."
