Blaze closes army street in Gillingham

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a fire at a house in Gillingham earlier this week. The blaze happened at 3.30am on Monday in Khartoum Road, Brompton, which houses military personnel and their families.
The fire took hold on the ground floor of the house. The occupant managed to leave before the blaze got out of control.
One end of Khartoum Road was closed off as investigations were done into the cause of the fire.
The suspect was being questioned by police today, Wednesday.
