Tara Martins Community Project is holding a fun day at Victory Academy, Chatham, today

A charity raising funds for the vulnerable homeless people in Gillingham is holding a charity fun day today.

The Tara Martins Community Project was set up in 2011 and runs a homeless shelter in Magpie Hall Road, Chatham.

As well as proving a safe space stay, the charity also teaches life skills and provides a variety of workshops to help people get back into work.

Tara Sobowale, from the project, pictured, said: “This festival is an amazing event with activities and fun for all the family. We’re aiming to raise £10,000 to continue maintaining the support we provide homeless people at our free homeless shelter and day centre.”

The fun day is being held at the Victory Academy on Magpie Hall Road, 11am-4.30pm and will have live performances, a theatre presentation, fancy dress for children and a dog show competition. Free entry.
