A van crashed into a lamppost – leaving it hanging over a busy dual carriageway.

There was slow traffic along the Northbound A278 Hoath Way, Gillingham, at Wigmore Road near the Hempstead Valley Roundabout following the collision.

A passer-by said: "The van wasn't obstructing the road but the lamppost was hanging over at least one lane of the dual carriageway.

"The driver was stood next to the van, he didn't look hurt."

The accident happened at around 5pm.

Police have been contacted for comment.
