Gravesend man charged following robberies at shops in Strood and Dartford

A second man has appeared in court relating to a robbery at a shop where a member of staff was reportedly shot in the face.

The man from Gravesend was arrested following an incident at Premier Stores, Bligh Way, Strood last month.

During the incident, a member of the public was reportedly assaulted, and a shop assistant suffered facial injuries believed to be caused by a BB gun.

A quantity of cash was also taken during the raid on February 21.

A man from Northfleet was charged with possession of a firearm, robbery and grievous bodily harm on February 24.

Faustas Demidovas was also charged in connection with a robbery at East Hill Food and Wine in Dartford, on February 15.

The latest man arrested – Vaidas Jankauskas, of Kitchener Avenue, Gravesend – was taken in for questioning on Thursday and charged with robbery, possessing an imitation firearm and driving whilst disqualified.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Friday and was remanded to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on April 3.

Demidovas, 29, of Black Eagle Drive, Northfleet, has been remanded in custody to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on March 23.
