Kevin Parrish is hoping a man-on-man approach will nullify the threats posed to Invicta Dynamos so far this season.

The head coach has seen several opposition import players do damage to his team and is preparing to counter that threat.

Invicta were last in action a fortnight ago, against Streatham Redskins in NIHL South Division 1, where import Jakub Klima was instrumental in helping the Brixton-based side to an 8-4 win. Parrish said: "We need to play man for man and not give those guys any room.

"The Streatham import scored four and had three assists and without those points, we could have won. These guys are there to do a job and we need to jump on them quickly because if they have half a chance they will put them away. We need to make sure they don’t get any chances."

Sunday’s NIHL Southern Cup game at Romford was postponed due to the poor weather, which made getting to and from the venue hazardous.

Dynamos travel to bottom side Solent & Gosport on Saturday before returning to Gillingham on Sunday for a match against third-placed Chelmsford Chieftains.

Solent may be bottom but the size of the rink means the game could be tricky. Parrish said: "It’s a crazy rink. People complain about the size of the Isle of Wight rink but this is even smaller. It will just be a case of shoot, shoot, shoot.

"We need to be coming away with 60-70 shots at their goal. It will be physical, it will be tough and there won’t be a lot of space."

Invicta have faced Chelmsford twice in the league, losing both games, 7-1 and 6-3. Face-off on Sunday at Silver Blades is 5.15pm.
