Over-running engineering works between Margate and Faversham have knock on effect on services from Medway to London

Commuters have been suffering severe disruption on trains to London this morning.

Over-running engineering works between Margate and Faversham left all lines to the capital blocked.

Southeastern said trains running through these stations might be cancelled, delayed or diverted at short notice.

First class was declassified to make extra room on the trains that were running and tickets were being accepted on high speed services into St Pancras International.

One commuter who gets the train from Rainham said: "I usually catch the 7.07am and wasn't able to get on a train until 7.45am so it was well over 30 minutes late which means I can claim on the Delay Repay scheme.

"I ended up almost an hour late for work."

Replacement buses have been taking passengers between Ramsgate and Faversham in both directions.
