A Medway man has admitted being married to two women at the same time after meeting wife number two on the internet.

Michael Evans, pleaded guilty to bigamy when he appeared in court after he married a woman from Devon following an online romance.

Evans, 62, Wouldham Road, in Borstal, Rochester, appeared before Torquay Magistrates’ Court earlier this week.

The court heard Evans married a woman, called Ann Sanderson on June 2, 2012, after meeting her online.

He went through with the ceremony despite still being married to his first wife, Amy Evans, who he tied the knot with in September, 1970.

His infidelities apparently came to light after a row between him and his new wife and police started an investigation.

The case against Evans was adjourned to allow pre-sentencing reports to be carried out on him.

He will be sentenced at the same court on Monday, December 2.
