Bike stolen from Rainham found dumped outside Wouldham pub

A bike which was missing for several days has been found dumped outside a pub 15 miles away from the owner's home.

Two thieves were spotted on CCTV stealing a new Aprilla Tuono 125 from outside a home in High Dewar Road, Rainham.

The footage showed two men driving past before stopping to look at the bike at around 11.46pm on Saturday, January 7.

The theft had been reported to police and the owner put an appeal on social media asking people to keep an eye out.

She had only had the bike, which cost £4,000, for two months before it was stolen.

In a stroke of luck someone got in touch to say they knew the whereabouts of the vehicle.

She said: "I was contacted on Facebook by someone's son and once I had given them my number a woman was on the phone and she gave me a name and an address.

"They had seen him post photos of my bike on social media."

the owner managed to contact the person via Snapchat who originally claimed to be unaware of her bike.

But with some pushing, he eventually explained he had dumped it outside a pub in Wouldham, where she eventually found it.

She said: "They drilled the fuel tank, snapped the plate, hot-wired it and painted it black.

"I can't afford to get it road legal again for a long time."

The price to repair the vehicle is estimated to be around £600.

Police have confirmed an investigation is currently ongoing.
