Two people arrested in connection with the killing of a young father from Strood have been released without charge.

The man and the woman were arrested after the death of Xhem Krasniqi, 31, a scaffolder from the Marlowe Park area of Strood, who was shot dead in Hove, Sussex, on May 18.

Edmund Nela, 31, has been remanded in custody charged with his murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on Friday, September 27.

Mr Krasniqi, who also worked as a doorman at the Casino Rooms in Rochester, had gone to Brighton with his wife and their two children.

His brother and nephew were allegedly shot at, but were unhurt.

The woman, 32, from the Brighton area, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, and the 34-year-old man also from Brighton, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
