Police attended between Eastcorut Lane and Lower Twydall Lane alongside ambulance crews at around 1.50pm.

Two occupants of one of the vehicles left the area after the nasty crash, which saw both fronts of the cars smashed up, and those left at the scene suffering broken collarbones and friction rashes from the seatbelts.

A police spokesman said: “We cannot stress enough how a seatbelt saves lives.

“Luckily, although the occupants suffered a broken collarbone and seatbelt rashes, it could have been much worse.

“Inquiries are underway to identify the driver, while a woman in the other vehicle was treated by paramedics and was taken to hospital for further medical attention.

“The road was closed until the vehicles were recovered at around 4.10pm.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist the investigation should call the appeal line on 01634 792209, quoting reference number 2-0729.
