Three people including an 11-year-old taken to hospital after their car crashed with an ambulance in Town Road, Cliff Woods

Three people have been taken to hospital after their car crashed with an ambulance already en route to hospital.

At 1.50pm the car and ambulance collided in Town Road, Cliff Woods, Rochester.

The three passengers were injured including an 11-year-old child and a woman in her 40s with a suspected collarbone injury. None of their ailments were life threatening.

The medical crew in the ambulance were also shaken and one sustained a shoulder injury.

Three more ambulances were called to attend, as well as the air ambulance.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The ambulance involved in the collision was en route to Medway Maritime Hospital with a patient .

"This patient was shaken but believed to be uninjured in the collision and was taken on to Medway Maritime by another ambulance.

“Three patients from the other vehicle were assessed and treated before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by road.

“The ambulance crew involved in the collision were taken to Darent Valley Hospital.”
