Kent Police said it was called at 10.35pm on Sunday to reports of incursion on the Medway Council owned site, off Lower Twydall Lane.

Officers attended and this morning the council confirmed enforcement staff had removed them from the park.

Speaking earlier this week James Brown, head of regulatory services at the council, said: "We are following a civil legal process to move the group on as quickly as possible."

Ward councillor Hazel Browne also spoke to the authority on behalf of residents who use the park for dog walking and recreation.

The travellers were offered a welfare check before the court order was made.
