Three people had to be rescued by firefighters when they got stuck in a lift at a residential care home in Strood this morning.

A crew was called to Millstream House at about 7.30am where they found two staff members and a male resident had been trapped for about an hour.

The home, in Mill Road, is a specialist residential home for adults with Huntington’s disease, brain injuries or physical disabilities.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Two staff and one man were trapped and had no way of opening the doors.

"We just opened the doors for them and they were able to get out. In all we were on the scene for about 15 minutes."
