The empty eateries, based at the former Dickens World Centre in Leviathan Way, were previously occupied by Villagio and Chimichanga. They closed in 2021 and 2018 respectively.

Both units are to be given a new-look, and while the name of the new tenant has not been revealed in the planning application, the drawings display the Zizzi slogan “Individually Italian” on the altered exterior.

Zizzi, a chain of Italian-inspired restaurants, already has branches in Maidstone, Bluewater, Canterbury, Sevenoaks and Whitstable. But this will be its first in the Medway Towns.

The plans can be viewed on the Medway Council website here by searching for the application number 23/1155.
