Gillingham have extended the loan deal of Tottenham defender Connor Ogilvie

Connor Ogilvie has extended his loan stay with Gillingham for the rest of the season.

The 22-year-old Tottenham defender initially joined the Gills on a half-season loan, a deal expired after the game at Southend on New Year's Day.

Ogilvie has played 15 games for the Gills this term, adding to the 42 appearances he made during a loan spell the previous campaign.

Manager Steve Lovell had been confident a deal could be struck before the weekend FA Cup game against Cardiff City.

Speaking about the young defender, Lovell said: “He can play left-back and centre-half, he is a good player, an excellent player."

Ogilvie came close to scoring his first goal of the season at Southend but controversially had it ruled out.

Lovell was delighted to get the contract extended and said: "I made no secret of the fact I wanted to try and keep Connor if the opportunity presented itself and we are grateful to Tottenham for allowing us to retain him.

"He’s a good professional and we look forward to continuing our working relationship.”

Striker Liam Nash, meanwhile, has confirmed that his loan spell at Concord Rangers has ended.

The 22-year-old has spent the last two months with the National South promotion hopefuls.

Nash has not played for the Gills in the league this season, his only appearance coming in the 4-0 Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Portsmouth.

He has started just two league games since joining the Gills in the summer of 2017.
