Gillingham sign Reading striker Dominic Samuel on emergency loan deal until December 10

Gillingham have added a striker to their squad ahead of Bury's visit to Priestfield on Saturday.

Dominic Samuel, 21, has joined on an emergency loan deal from Reading and will be with the Gills until December 10.

He featured in Reading's first two games of the season but then suffered a knee injury and has been working his way back to fitness, playing twice for the Royals' under-21 side in recent weeks.

Samuel, who came through Reading's academy, has also had loan spells at Colchester, Coventry and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Gills boss Justin Edinburgh told the club's website: "We are delighted to have captured Dominic’s signature.

"He had a massive impact at Coventry last year in this division with six goals in 13 games.

"With Luke Norris' injury we have been a little bit short in that area but it gives us another option and a bit of a spark at the right time."

Samuel has played three times for the England under-19s, scoring twice.

Reading manager Steve Clarke said: "Dominic had a really good pre-season with the first team but picked up an injury early in the season.

"He worked very hard on his rehabilitation to get himself to a really good level of fitness and now the next stage for him is to play competitive matches.

"He will get that opportunity at Gillingham, which will be good for Dominic, good for Gillingham and ultimately good for us."
