Chatham have appealed to the Medway public to bring their voices to Maidstone Road as they chase FA Cup glory.

Chats are just one win away from reaching the first round proper of the competition – and a possible meeting with the likes of Sheffield United, Wolves or Gillingham.

St Albans City stand in their way and the Hertfordshire side, who play one level above Chatham, are expected to bring a vociferous following.

Chatham chairman Jeff Talbot said: “This game has created a massive buzz around the club and we’re hoping for a gate approaching the 1,000 mark. It will certainly be bigger than the 150 we normally get.

“Gillingham are helping us out with stewards and we often get one or two of their fans here when the club play away. We would certainly welcome any supporters here on Saturday to help cheer their local club on.

“We’re expecting St Albans to bring a noisy crowd and it would be nice if we could have some of the same.”
