CCTV to keep eye on centre

A CHARITY grant of £6,000 is helping to pay for a new CCTV system in Gillingham's Sunlight Centre in Richmond Road.

The former laundry has been converted into a healthy living centre, providing a GP's surgery, pharmacy and community cafe. Sixteen cameras will now keep an eye on troublemakers who have been causing problems both inside and outside the centre.

The grant has come from the Kent People's Trust which has awarded £266,000 to crime prevention and education projects in the county.

Trustees include a number of Kent companies, Medway Council and police.
