Comedian wins top award

Comedian Dave Lee has been awarded the Kent Invicta Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements and charitable work.

The entertainer, who lives at Herne, near Canterbury, received an engraved silver trophy from the chairman of Kent County Council, Leyland Ridings.

He was also presented with a £5,000 donation to his charity, Dave Lee’s Happy Holidays, which organises trips for disabled, sick and underpriviledged children in the county.

Cllr Ridings said: “We are proud to present this award to Mr Lee who has harnessed the success of his showbiz career and used it to benefit others.

“His charitable work has raised more than £1.8million and the award is not just for his efforts but a thank-you to the many lives across the county he has touched and bettered.”

Dave, who has already been awarded an MBE for his charitable work, said: “I am very happy to accept the award and would like to thank all the people of Kent for the support I have received.”
