Lights for Love raises thousands for charity

A ceremony to encourage people to remember their loved ones has raised thousands of pounds for charity.

The Lights for Love event was held at Rochester Cathedral.

The ceremony was one of three which took place around Kent to raise funds for the Wisdom Hospice in Rochester.

Events were also held in Sittingbourne, and the Isle of Sheppey.

Thousands of people made a donation in exchange for a light on the Christmas tree at the cathedral in memory of a late friend or relative. Every dedication is also recorded in a book. Last year’s Lights for Love ceremony raised more than £20,000 and the fund-raising team at The Wisdom Hospice expect this year’s donations to top that amount.
