Rocking and rolling family give charity a boost

The rock’n’rolling Blackwell family have helped boost the funds of Thanet Animal Group by more than £2,100.

The money was presented to the centre following a charity gig at Westgate Pavilion in April.

Music from the 1950s and 60s was played by One For The Road which features guitarist and vocalist Nigel, his double bass playing son John and other son Charlie on tenor sax, together with their friend Steve on the drums.

The other band on the bill was This Little Girl which features 10-year-old Keri on the drums, as well as Nigel, John and Charlie.

Jane Blackwell said: “Thanks go to all those people who supported the gig including friends, family, business sponsors and Steve the drummer for providing the mobile disco between sets.”
