Runners make it a big day for charity

A cancer charity stands to be in the money thanks to the efforts of 2,000 runners.

Cancer Research UK’s 10k run took place at Leeds Castle on Sunday, bringing in sponsorship pledges of £105,000, described as “staggering” by organiser Christina Tomlinson.

She said: “We had a fantastic day and I would like to thank everyone who took part, as well as all the volunteers and everyone at Leeds Castle.

“We would like to urge runners to remember their efforts do not end at the finishing line and it is vital everyone sends in their sponsorship money as soon as possible.”
