Sheerness Golf Club fundraiser collects more than £500 for Barton Court Care Home

Generous golfers scored a hole in one when they raised more than £500 for a care home.

Members of Sheerness Golf Club presented the money to representatives of Barton Court.

It will go towards renovating the care home’s back garden, in New Road, Minster, for residents.

Activities coordinator Elaine Bashford said: “It’s quite a big project and the golf club will be invited down once it’s all finished to see where their money went.”

A coffee morning was also held at Barton Court on May 20 as part of Dementia Awareness Week. A group known as Friends Together meets on the first Wednesday of every month there from 10.30am to midday.

Mrs Bashford said: “We are reaching out to people because there are a lot of people living with dementia on their own and we’re here for anyone who wants someone to sit down with them and have a cup of tea or just lend a friendly ear.”
