Man charged with attempted murder following night-time assault in Warden appears in court

A man accused of stabbing another man in the chest in a night-time assault has appeared in court.

Lee Simpson, from Romford, Essex, has been charged with attempted murder, possessing a bladed weapon and aggravated vehicle taking.

It is in connection with an attack in Jetty Road, Warden, between 10.15pm and 10.30pm on Monday.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene after a man in his 50s was stabbed in the chest.

He also had injuries to his head and hand.

The victim, from Leysdown, was taken to King’s College Hospital in London in a serious condition but his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers shut Jetty Road from The Cavern Pub Diner to Beach Approach while forensics teams investigated.

It remained closed until around 3.30am the following day.

Simpson, 25, appeared before Maidstone magistrates yesterday, but did not enter a plea.

He has been remanded in custody until his next appearance at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, February 22, when a date will be fixed for a trial.
