A young man has been injured in a suspected glassing at a flat in Sheerness.

Police are investigating after the man, in his 20s, suffered cuts to his hands and a head injury in what is believed to have been a bottle attack.

The assault is said to have happened in Jacobs House, in Royal Road, at about 4.45pm yesterday.

Police cordoned off the road into the evening as they searched for clues.

People living nearby reported that the man had been attacked with a bottle.

The man, from London, was taken to hospital for his wounds.

Kent Police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman said: "The investigation is ongoing to establish the facts of what happened."
