Sheerness Wind Farm proposal still up in the air

A decision on the wind farm which could be built in the docks has been deferred for a second time.

At a meeting of Swale Borough Council’s planning committee last night (Thursday) members voted to postpone making a decision so a site visit could be carried out.

Peel Wind Power has submitted an application to build four 125m turbines along the Lappel Bank in Sheerness Docks.

The decision was also deferred at a meeting in December so the planning team could compile a report on noise levels.

Following a noise assessment, planners decided members would have no justification to refuse the application for reasons of noise alone.

A site meeting was proposed by Cllr Mick Constable (Lab) and members voted in favour of this.
