A249 on Sheppey to close this weekend

The A249 Brielle Way (the main road into Sheerness Port) will close tonight at 8pm and remain closed all weekend.

The closure is to enable the removal of a redundant railway crossing.

Both carriageways will be closed until 6am on Monday, and both will close again at 8pm on Monday, re-opening at 6am on Tuesday, March 15.

The road will be closed between the B2007 at the Whiteways roundabout and the A250 Bridge Road.

The port will remain accessible, with a sign-posted diversion using the A250 to re-join the A249 at Queenborough for southbound traffic, and vice versa for northbound traffic.

Residents and businesses along Brielle Way will still have access to their properties, but there is no through route for traffic.
