Concert organiser Catherine Orton said: "We are really excited. This will be our first double-bass recital."

Lon Fon will perform music by Vasks, Sperger and Schumann from 11am. He is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

He enjoys playing in orchestras and has recently worked with Sir Mark Elder and Clio Gould. In December, he made his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra.

He came top in the Lucca European Bass Congress competition for 16- to 18-year-olds and last year was highly commended in the Academy’s Alex Ross Double Bass Prize.

In February he performed Schubert’s Octet with the Asaka Quartet as part of the Academy’s Bicentenary Chamber Music Festival. There will be a collection at the end of the recital.
