Rodmersham Primary School is one of country's best

Youngsters at Rodmersham Primary School had plenty of reasons to celebrate after learning they are top of the class.

The school has been congratulated by schools minister MP Nick Gibb for being placed in the top 1% of primary schools nationally following the 2016 Key Stage 2 assessments.

In a letter to head teacher, Nicola McMullon, he said: “Your school’s results show that 100% of your pupils reached or exceeded the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2.

“This means that your school is in the top 1% of primary schools in England.

“We want to ensure that every child has the necessary fluency in reading, writing and mathematics to prepare them for a successful secondary education and beyond, and your school has provided this to all your pupils.

“Thank you for your hard work and professionalism in producing such high standards and congratulations again to you and your staff for all you have achieved.”

Mrs McMullon, who has been head teacher at Rodmersham primary for more than four years, said the accolade was fantastic recognition for pupils and staff.

“We are very proud of everything that we have achieved,” she said.

“Everyone has played a pivotal role in ensuring the children’s wellbeing and academic goals are met and our team has worked tirelessly to develop a positive growth mindset and ‘can-do’ attitude within the children.
