VIDEO: Break in at Overbury Property Group in High Street, Newington

A gang of four broke down a door and forced their way into offices, stealing around £10,000 worth of items.

Overbury Property Group in Newington High Street was targeted today at about 1.35am.

Jeremy Overbury, senior partner, said: “Our tenant upstairs called us about 2am to tell us.

“He heard them kick the door in, quickly put some clothes on and then banged on an internal door to scare them off.”

They took various items including three desktop Apple Macs, one Macbook Air laptop and an iPad.

The office did not have internal CCTV, but staff are now planning to boost the security.

Footage shows four people kick down the door after parking next to the shop and then leave with the electricals.

Mr Overbury said: “The hairdressers next door got broken into about six months ago.

“It’s business as usual for us though, we’ve got everything backed up and the girls are working from home.

“We’ve been there about two and a half years now.”

Staff are planning to create a solid PVC shopfront, with a five-point locking system and an internal sounding alarm to “deafen them”.

The door needs to be replaced too, as it was “smashed to pieces”.

He added: “It held up quite well until two of them gave it hell.”
