Robbers stole money when they forced open tills at a bookmakers - on the same night as a similar raid on a supermarket.

Two men targeted William Hill, in Broadstairs High Street, at 7.35pm on Tuesday.

They forced open tills and stole cash before they are believed to have fled in a dark car parked nearby.

Just hours later, two men forced open tills at the Co-op in Sellindge before stealing cash and cigarettes.

Raiders - including one who is thought to have had a gun - struck at the Main Road store at about 10pm.

A third man was outside the shop and it is believed he might have had a handgun.

One of the suspects in the William Hill raid is described as white, 5ft 5in tall, in his early 20s and wearing a black hooded top. Police said he spoke with a "local accent".

The other suspect is described as around 5ft 8in and also in his early 20s. He was wearing black clothes and a baseball cap. His face was concealed with clothing, goggles and a scarf. A witness described his accent as "Afro/Caribbean".
