Cross stitch designer from Ramsgate says portraits of King Charles less popular than Queen Elizabeth which could be a 'sign of things to come'

A cross stitch designer who sells portraits of the Royals says she has been inundated with people ordering kits for the Queen and Diana – but nobody seems interested in King Charles.

Sheena Rogers from Ramsgate has been designing the make-your-own mini cushion kits for 10 years.

Since the Queen's passing last week, she has had orders flooding in from as far as America, Australia and New Zealand for her designs with the exception of Kings Charles and Camilla, the Queen Consort, something she feels could be a reflection on their popularity.

"Orders for my Queen Elizabeth portraits started coming in but then just one or two for Charles," said Miss Rogers from Rockstone Way.

"For Camilla it's even less.

"I have also got portraits of Will and Kate, and Diana, she has picked up in popularity again.

"It could be a sign of things to come but I think once we see more of Charles, he will gain more popularity but he doesn't stand out like the Queen.

"She had bright clothes and hats, and she was recognisable.

"I get some messages from customers saying they won't buy Camilla because Diana has always been their next Queen.

"I also get lots of condolences messages from people in the US saying they are sorry about our Queen passing."

She also has a portrait of Prince Philip and a commemorative design for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding in 2018.

Miss Rogers even bought out a collection for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June which has also proved popular.

She said: "As soon as the announcement came out that the Queen had passed, within half an hour I was just inundated with orders for the Jubilee designs mainly because it has the dates of her reign on there.

"Because she passed the same year as the Jubilee, it acts as a memorial design now too."
