Margate manager Andy Drury on recently-signed former West Ham United and Yeovil Town striker Korrey Henry after his hat-trick at Faversham Town

Korrey Henry didn’t take long to find the net for Margate but boss Andy Drury thinks it’ll be another few weeks before the striker is fully fit.

Henry marked his full debut last Tuesday with a hat-trick in their 5-0 Kent Senior Cup victory at Faversham.

Drury gave him his first Isthmian Premier start last Saturday as they lost away to early high-fliers Aveley 3-1 and revealed he tried to sign Henry in the summer but now has got his man.

“He’s a handful at this level,” Margate's manager said.

“He scored 14 goals last year for a struggling Merstham side. I tried to get him in the summer, it didn’t come off for whatever reason, but I’m pleased to get him.

“His hold-up play is good and he has got an eye for goal. I think he’ll be a good asset and he’s still got a little way to go to get fit.

“Look, he’s going to need three or four weeks to get up to speed. But he’s going to be a handful.

"I’m confident that he’ll score goals at this level.”

With Gate 3-0 behind, on-loan Dartford midfielder Cameron Brodie struck late in the first half, although Margate couldn’t mount a comeback after the restart despite home midfielder Blaise Riley-Snow’s first-half red card.

Fellow recent arrival Eddie Dsane scored the other two goals in their big win at Salters Lane which sets up a second-round home tie against Isthmian South East side Sheppey.

Striker Harvey Smith has joined Southern Counties East Premier Division Glebe on dual-registration, scoring last weekend as they beat Welling Town 2-0, while wideman James Bessey-Saldanha has rejected the opportunity to sign for another Isthmian Premier club after receiving a seven-day approach and wishes to remain at Hartsdown Park.

Assistant manager James Scott, meanwhile, has left the club, with former midfielder Reece Prestedge re-joining the club as Drury's new No.2.

Margate tonight are due to host Haringey in the league before an FA Trophy trip to Billericay this Saturday.

They are presently due to visit Corinthian-Casuals next Tuesday.

But after recent damage at their ground, which saw a tree fall through their clubhouse, they are due to face Cray Wanderers at the Met Police's Ground this Wednesday (October 5), meaning it's not yet clear where that fixture will be staged.
