Man found dead after fire in Five Oak Green, near Tonbridge, named

A man who was found dead after a fire in a house has been named.

Geoff Sales was confirmed to have died after a blaze at his home in Sychem Place, Five Oak Green, near Tonbridge, in the early hours of Monday.

A friend, who did not want to be named, paid tribute to Mr Sales, describing him as a "kind and loving man".

They added: "I just think it is so sad. He was such a lovely man.

"I really hope that he’s at peace now."

The alarm was raised at about 4.50am on Monday.

A fire service spokesman said: "Two fire engines attended the address, where sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It’s believed the fire started accidentally."

A police spokesman confirmed they were called shortly before 5.25am to help Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

"Officers attended and a man was pronounced deceased at the scene," he added.

"The fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
