Teenager from Staplehurst arrested after CCTV operators call police to Calverley Road in Tunbridge Wells

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with assault after CCTV operators alerted police to an attack.

The teenager, from Staplehurst, was arrested after officers were advised by CCTV operators that a victim had allegedly been punched repeatedly in Calverley Road, Tunbridge Wells.

It happened in the early hours of Friday, June 30.

The victim had suffered facial injuries and within minutes officers arrested the suspect in Mount Pleasant Road.

The officers also seized a set of van keys that had been reported stolen earlier on the same day.

The teenager was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and handling stolen property.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 1. He was remanded to a hearing at Medway Youth Court on Thursday, July 6.
