The power supply at the busy railway station was cut off due to a melted track part.

Due to the outage, no services could run at Tunbridge Wells and services on the Hastings line were also being disrupted.

Network Rail confirmed on X, formerly Twitter, at the time that a melted “conductor pot” was behind the issue which meant power to Southeastern trains had to be switched off.

Bosses at Southeastern also took to the social media service to inform passengers of delays.

“Because of a failure of the power supply at Tunbridge Wells, services on the Hastings Line are disrupted,” they wrote at the time.

No services could run via Tunbridge Wells, while staff worked to restore the power supply.

One frustrated passenger commented online: “I'm stuck at Tonbridge with over 100 passengers and no staff have any idea what is going on.

“Now in a queue for a bus to Tunbridge Wells but no confirmation on how to get back to Hastings.”

Another added: “Some updates would be nice... I'm wondering if I will ever get home.”

Shortly before 5am today (Thursday), Southeastern confirmed the power supply repairs had been completed overnight and that trains are able to run normally today.
