Emergency repairs on A21 between at Lamberhurst after manhole cover collapses

A collapsed manhole cover is causing delays.

The A21 is shut between the B2160 Maidstone Road and the A262 Forstal Farm Roundabout in Lamberhurst after the hole appeared on the southbound side.

As of 9pm, the route remained closed in both directions.

National Highways has posted on X about the incident and says “service providers” are in attendance.

Initially, there was a reduced capacity on the route but now it is closed.

It is not known how long the emergency repairs may take but motorists are being urged to plan ahead and expect delays.
