Over 80% of adults in the South East have now received their covid-19 booster jab thanks to the incredible work of NHS staff and volunteers who have continued to pull out all the stops to get jabs into arms.

Vaccinations have been taking place across the region at various locations including soup kitchens, racecourses, football stadiums and local high street pharmacies.

This milestone comes as the NHS in the South East announced delivery of more than 18 million life-saving Covid-19 vaccinations earlier this month.

None of this would be possible without the continuous commitment and efforts of staff and volunteers across the region who are playing their part in the biggest immunisation programme in history.

Every eligible adult can now grab a jab at a local clinic, by either booking an appointment through the National Booking website, calling 119; or by going to walk in clinics available near to them

Caroline Reid, Regional Director of Commissioning and Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for the Covid-19 Vaccination programme for NHS England, South East, said: “Thanks to the continued efforts of NHS staff and volunteers, millions of COVID-19 boosters have now been put into arms across the South East.

“This is no time for complacency and no time to let up, dedicated staff and volunteers continue to offer appointments and walk in slots for those yet to get their jab, whether it is a first, second or booster jab – we have enough capacity available for people who come forward.

“Vaccination continues to be our best protection against serious illness, please help us by coming forward – I encourage anybody who hasn’t yet got their booster or who isn’t vaccinated at all to come forward without delay to get the best protection on offer against coronavirus”.

People are urged to continue to support the vaccination programme, to take up the offer of having their first, second, third or booster vaccinations if they have been invited but have not yet done so.

People aged 18 and over can make an appointment at thousands of vaccination sites on the national booking service www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination, three months after their second jab. Following a positive COVID-19 test, you need to wait a number of weeks before getting any dose of the vaccine.

You need to wait:

• 4 weeks (28 days) if you're aged 18 years old or over
• 12 weeks (84 days) if you're aged 12 to 17 years old
• 4 weeks (28 days) if you're aged 12 to 17 years old and at high risk from COVID-19

This starts from the date you had symptoms, or the date of the positive test if you did not have any symptoms.
