Frozen mud thrown at cars on A299 New Thanet Way in Whitstable

A car's panoramic sunroof was smashed after frozen mud was thrown at multiple vehicles on a busy route.

Police have launched an investigation after motorists were targeted on the London-bound carriageway of the A299 New Thanet Way in Whitstable.

Lumps of frozen mud were reportedly thrown from the Crab and Winkle footpath bridge.

One vehicle's panoramic sunroof was smashed and another car had a dent in the bonnet.

The incident happened at about 7pm on Tuesday.

Investigating officer Sgt Stephen Wells said: "Throwing items from heights towards oncoming vehicles is extremely dangerous and it is only sheer luck that nobody was seriously hurt.

"We have been making enquiries in the area to identify suspects and I am appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation, to contact us."
