Police arrest three teenagers after knife is discovered Station Road car park, in Ashford

Three teenagers were arrested after police discovered an array of weapons and drugs in a car.

Police were called to the car park in Station Road, Ashford, behind the Hollywood Bowl, on Monday following a report of a disturbance.

Members of the Community Policing Team arrived at 8pm and found a group of people in a car.

A search of the vehicle unveiled a knife, firearm ammunition and suspected class B drugs.

A boy, 16, of no fixed address and two men aged 18 from Ashford were arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

One of the men was also arrested on suspicion of possessing class B drugs and firearms ammunition without a firearms certificate.

Inspector Jason Atkinson from the Community Safety Unit in Ashford said: "Kent Police is committed to tackling knife crime culture and removing dangerous weapons from our communities.

"This arrest is an example of why carrying knives does not make you safer or give you added protection.

"If you carry a knife you are more likely to get seriously hurt or be arrested."

All three teenagers have now been released pending further investigation.

The arrest comes after Kent County Council announced it will set up a committee to tackle the rising problems.
