Highways say a car carrying four people left the carriageway, with police, air ambulance, ambulance and Kent Fire and Rescue Service all attending.

The roads were blocked from the Flanders Field Roundabout, to the junction for J10a for the M20, with diversions put in place. They have since reopened.

A statement from National Highways said earlier today: “The A2070 is closed southbound within the A2042 Cloverleaf Interchange junction following a serious collision involving a car that has left the carriageway in the early hours of this morning.

“Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, South Central Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex all attended the scene in the early stages of the incident.

“Kent Police remain on scene to carry out collision investigations, which due to the nature of the incident is expected to take some time.

“The closure is likely to remain in place throughout the morning and into the afternoon.”

A spokesman for KFRS added: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a crash involving one car and four people near Malcolm Sargent Road in Ashford.

“Six fire engines and two height vehicles attended, and crews used various cutting tools and hydraulic rescue equipment to free casualties.”

KFRS left the road just after 5am.
