Ashford boss Steve Lovell is planning to bring in new faces to boost the club’s flagging fortunes and insists that he himself won’t be going anywhere.

The club sit second bottom of the Ryman League, Division 1 South, having lost 4-0 on Saturday to Merstham and Lovell will spend a free weekend attempting to lure new faces to Homelands.

He said: "I’ve been in the game a long time and it can go two ways - you can battle on or you can throw the towel in.

"I’ve never thrown the towel in and never will. If the club want me to go, then I can’t do anything about that but I will never give up. I’ve no doubt we will turn it around and start putting points on the board."

Lovell (pictured) will almost certainly be searching for a keeper, as understudies to injured Scott Chalmers-Stevens have so far failed to perform - conceding nine goals in the last two outings.

On a positive note, striker Mark Lovell returned to the bench at the weekend and he will be involved when Ashford get back into action on Wednesday, October 14 at home to Eastbourne Town.

Ashford’s scheduled games against Whitstable on Wednesday and Walton & Hersham on Saturday were postponed due to their opponents’ cup replays.
