The club says it is due to a burst drain at their site in Kennington, which has resulted in a health and safety issue being created.

Guests were due to arrive at the event, which often sees thousands of residents in attendance, from 5pm.

The display was then meant to begin two hours later at 7pm.

Food and refreshments were also available at the jamboree for those planning to attend.

Tonight’s show has since been postponed until next Saturday (November 11).

Bar manager Emma Funnell said: "All of those who have already bought a ticket in advance have received an email today.

"It tells people they can reuse their tickets for next Saturday, however if they can't attend they can request a refund and that will be granted to them.

"We are disappointed, but because of health and safety reasons we have to postpone."

Elsewhere today, the organisers of the Quex Park fireworks display in Birchington were forced to postpone for “public safety” reasons.
