Can you sum up town in a photograph?

Can you take a single picture that best sums up Ashford?

Ashford’s Future is launching a major photography competition to sum up why Ashford is ‘best placed in Britain’.

From tomorrow until May 1 entrants can submit a picture that best encapsulates the slogan.

Prizes include free Eurostar tickets, £300 worth of photographic vouchers, and work experience with a professional photographer.

Ashford’s Future managing director Judith Armitt said: “The Ashford brand helps us to promote Ashford as a great place to live, work, visit and do business.

“But we want people to think about the brand on a more personal level and visualise the ways in which Ashford is best placed.”

Competition sponsors include Eurostar, the Kentish Express, Jacobs Engineering Group Inc and Snappy Snaps and judges’ chairman is wildlife photographer and Wye resident Steve Bloom.

Photos can be taken on any camera, including in a mobile phone, and the three age categories are under 12, 12 to 17 and 18-plus.

Entrants should submit one image with a minimum 1024 x 768 pixels, uploading it at www.ashfordbestplaced.co.uk/photocomp >>>.

The 15 best pictures, five from each age group, will be selected by the judges.

The shortlist will be publicised online, in the Kentish Express and in an exhibition and a winners’ display will be put up at County Square on June 13.
