Canterbury under-12s produced a string of excellent displays as they defended their national title in Nottingham.

Having qualified as Kent and Southern champions, the city club, pictured above, overcame Midlands champions Coventry & North Warwicks thanks to Alex Mount’s goal.

West champions Avalon were beaten 3-0 with goals from Sam Barrett, James Oates and Mount before Northern champions Deeside Ramblers were on the end of a 6-0 defeat.

Mount netted a brace with others coming from Oates, Sean Gilmore, James Meakin and Olly Norman.

Canterbury completed their group with a 2-0 win over Old Loughtonians thanks to Mount and Gilmore.

The second stage pitted the top two teams from each of the two groups against each other in a league format.

Canterbury made a flying start against Eastern champions Bury St Edmunds and were 3-0 up inside five minutes.

They then only needed a draw against Woking. Oates put them ahead and, despite a late penalty corner from Woking, Canterbury took the title for a successive year.

Canterbury played 20 games, scoring 100 goals and conceding only three.
