Brickwork and a pane of glass have been damaged at the front of the site, which will now remain closed for the rest of the day.

A notice posted on the entrance states staff have been advised to shut the centre in Station Road "due to unforeseen circumstances".

One resident said she was in the arcades when the black Land Rover Freelander hit the site.

Commenting on the Ashford Kent Read All About It! Facebook page, Izzy Setek said: "I thought it was a bowling ball until we saw the entrance. No idea how it got there.”

Carly Erback added: "My son was in there playing pool and was lucky that he changed pool tables just before the car went through."
