The driver required treatment at a local hospital and was initially arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

While at hospital, he received treatment for a pre-existing medical condition and officers determined the most proportionate course of action was to de-arrest him.

Police say he has since received 'appropriate words and advice'.

Also in Ashford, police spent the first hour of Christmas Day dealing with another suspected drink driving incident near Junction 9 of the M20.

Police found a red car on it's roof at around 1am.

Kent Police Ashford took to Twitter to warn drivers to be careful in the area as the traffic lights were broken and they were working to clear the area.

They tracked down the address of the owner of the car and an arrest for drink driving was made.
