Driver killed by lorry's lifting gear is named

A MAN who died when he was struck by the hydraulic arm of a tipper lorry in a Kent village has been identified by police.

He was 58-year-old Brian Peek, a married man, of Springwood Drive, Godinton Park, Ashford.

Mr Peek was delivering stone to an address in Budds Lane, Wittersham, near Tenterden, at about 12.15pm last Monday when the tragedy happened.

He died of asphyxia, compression of the neck and crush injuries, it was revealed when the inquest was opened and adjourned on Thursday.
